Humanitarian Award Recipient
Humanitarianism is defined as an ethic of kindness, benevolence and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings.
The 2010 Lions of Michigan Mother Teresa Humanitarian Award was presented to Lion Karla Roebuck from the Chippewa Lake Lions Club. Karla is the current Secretary of her club, Chairman of the Information Technology Committee for Lions District 11-E1, Past IT Committee Chair for the Lions State of Michigan MD-11. She has long been an avid volunteer, serving as an officer, boardmember, or webmaster for various non-profit organizations, webmaster and committee member in her church, as well as being an active participant and supporter of various programs and activities throughout the state both public and private, benefiting her community, youth, the elderly, the underpriveleged, persons with disabilites, and more.
The Mother Teresa Humanitarian award is a special award given to a Lion in the State of Michigan who:
- exemplifies, in his/her lifetime, expression of the fundamental golden rule
- makes you proud to be a fellow Lion
- makes a difference in the lives of others, especially those less fortunate
- places Lion membership as a high priority in their life of service to others
- displays the traits of honesty, clarity, and integrity in all aspects of their personal and professional life
Fewer than 10 Lions have received this honor and wear the Mother Teresa Humanitarian pin with pride. Past recipients of the award choose the next year's winner.
